Open Door Policy:

You are welcome to come to Books and Blankets anytime during regular childcare hours. Please contact the staff via text or call if you do want to stop by.

Liability Insurance:

Books and Blanket LLC is covered by liability insurance for both the premises and operations. The childcare also carries auto liability insurance to cover transportation of childcare children. (SEE TRANSPORTATION FORM)

Payment:

Payment for childcare is due the Friday prior to the week of care needed. For your convenience, you can set up auto pay via Bright wheel or pay in advance weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. A $10.00 fee is added onto the regular payment for each day that the payment is late. If payment continues to be a problem, then care could be discontinued.

If the facility is closed due to a recognized federal holiday, your payment is still due in full for that week.

If the facility is closed 1-2 days in one week due to holiday, your payment is still due in full for that week.

If the facility is closed 3 or more days in one week due to holiday, your weekly payment will be prorated.

If the facility is closed all week for breaks or emergency, payment will still be due to reserve your child’s spot. We will notify you in advance of any facility closures. (SEE FACILITY CLOSURE FORM)

If you are planning a vacation, please let me the Director know at least 2 weeks in advance. You can choose to waive tuition up to 5 days for vacation. Any additional time taken for your vacation after the 5 waived days will require payment to reserve your child’s spot. If payment is not paid, your child will not have a space. These rules apply for all full-time children. By paying your regular childcare fee each week, you are holding your child’s space.

Each child will receive 5 sick days a year. If your child is out sick and there are no sick days left, your payment is due in full for that week. Please keep in mind that you are paying to hold your child’s space whether they are there or not.

Late Fees:

If you will be late picking up your child, please call or text the staff and let us know as soon as possible. The facility closes promptly at 5:30 PM. Picking up after your contracted pick-up time will result in late charges. If there is an avoidable emergency and you are late to pick up your child, there will be a late fee of $1.00 per minute late added onto your next invoice.

Immunizations:

Your child’s immunizations MUST be completely up to date before coming to the facility. This is particularly important and very crucial. There are no exceptions due to the California State Law as of January 2018; now requires each child to have up to date immunizations. A California School Immunization blue card will be filled out and kept on file for each child who is not yet attending public school. A child will not be allowed to attend the childcare facility if their immunizations are not up to date with no exceptions.

Hygiene:

We ask that the children arrive bathed with a clean diaper, extra outfit, and clothed appropriately for the weather. No pajamas unless you have a baby under 12 months. Children will be playing outside and need to be fully prepared with their clothing. Disposable diapers only. This helps keep things clean and fresh throughout the childcare area. Please keep the child’s fingernails trimmed to avoid scratching of themselves and other children.

Meals:

If you decide on the meal option provided by Books and Blankets, we prepare healthy and balanced breakfast, snack, lunches, and drinks for the children. For infants who are transitioning into solid foods, we provide organic pureed fruits and veggies. We try to involve your children in the preparing and setting up for meals. All meals are included in regular rate.

If you would like to provide your own meals, please let the teacher know and we will make storage accommodations.

WE DO NOT PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:

-          Formula
-          Jars of baby food

If you have an infant that drinks formula or specific baby food, you will be responsible for maintaining the supply for him/her.

Sickness Policy:

Please do not bring your child to the facility if he or she is sick. Please use your best judgement if you feel that your child is too sick to be around other children. Please notify Books and Blankets by 8:30 AM if your child is not coming that day.

If your child has an illness that is contagious or can easily spread, they cannot come to the facility until:

-          They have been cleared by a doctor stating that they are no longer contagious and are cleared to be around other children.
-          When the Director of Books and Blankets gives the final yes for the child to return to the facility per the policy.

If your child is sick over the weekend or when away from the facility, please be sure to let the teacher know as soon as possible so that Books and Blankets can be aware in case the other children have possibly been exposed to a contagious illness. If the teacher feel that your child is too sick to be at the facility and cannot take part in our daily activities, a staff member will call you to pick up your child. If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, a staff member will call you to pick up your child. Your child must be picked up within an hour of us calling to notify you of the illness.

Your child cannot attend with a fever of 100 degrees or higher. The child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to the facility. If the child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher at any point of the day, Books and Blankets will call you to pick up your child.

Incidental Medial Services Plan of Operation:

An IMS plan will be provided when a child is enrolled who requires these services.

Potty Training:

Books and Blankets will make every effort to assist in potty training and follow your system at home. We will begin to assist with potty training here once you have established some training at home and when the child appears to be ready for this process. We believe that a child will go through the potty-training process only when they are “ready.”

Please remember Books and Blankets will only assist with potty training if your child is ready and if he or she is being potty trained at home as well.

Naptime Policy and Procedures:

Naps and rest will be provided in a quiet area that is physically separated from children who are engaged in activity that will disrupt a napping or resting child. A child who has completed a nap or rest quietly for 30 minutes will not be required to remain on a cot or mat. A separate mat and bedding will be provided for each child in care. Parents may provide a blanket or comfort toy for their child to assist in falling asleep. Bedding provided by the center will be washed weekly or when soiled or wet.

Field Trips:

Books and Blankets offers a variety of experience both at and away from the center. Field trips are a creative way to enrich a theme and expand the learning environment. The director must approve all field trips. Field trips require a parent to complete the field trip permission form. These forms can be obtained from the director. Parents must be notified at least one week before the date of the planned field trip.
Teachers may decide and are encouraged to conduct short, unannounced field trips including but not limited to; walks as a class, trips to the playground, trips to local businesses. Teacher-student ratio must always be maintained.

Transportation Policy:

Childcare staff can transport children in a vehicle but must follow the following criteria to do so:
-           Must have current California Driver’s License.
-           Vehicle must be registered, properly insured, and equipped with appropriate child restraint systems.
-           Maintain appropriate child/teacher ratios
-           Never leave the vehicle with children unattended
Transportation will only be provided for field trips and/or to and from home.

Filing Taxes:

The Director at Books and Blankets keep track of every payment that you make for your childcare payments throughout the year. At the end of the year the director will print you a copy of all your payments to use when you file your taxes. Please do not add any dollar amount you may have paid another facility on the copy we give you. If you do the IRS will most likely follow up with you if the dollar amounts do not match.

Childcare Rules:

We ask that all children:
-Do not hit, bite, kick, push, scratch, or pinch each other.
-Do not bully, tease, or name call.
-Do not misuse childcare items and furniture.

We try to emphasize to the children to use their words and communicate with each other and to myself. Staff will re-direct them to another activity when there is a problem, or we will help them identify the problem and find positive solutions. If more problems occur, children may lose privileges to play with certain toys or electronics. We use positive reinforcement and reward good behavior by clapping or letting them know we are proud. You will always be given an end of day progress on your child via Bright wheel, so you know how their day went.
Please note, consistent unruly behavior will be re-directed, however, if it begins to cause harm to other children then care can be terminated.

Types of discipline not permitted:
-          No corporeal punishment or violation of personal rights.

Termination Policy:

The Books and Blankets contract may be terminated by the parents by giving a 30-day notice prior to the ending date. The parents must pay for the last 30 days after giving notice if the child attends the last 30 days or not. The contract may be terminated without any notice by the Director if the parents do not abide by the contract rules and policies or if the family is not a compatible fit for the program.
